Ingredients:
Manathakkali vathal-100g(Here i have used Fresh one)
Shallots-10
Tomato-3 Chopped
Coconut Chunks/grated-1/2 Cup
Ginger-1 inch
Garlic cloves-4 Cloves
Tamarind paste-1/2 cup
Chili powder-1 tsp
Coriander powder-2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Curry leaves-1 sprig
Asafoetida/Hing-1/4 tsp
Urad dal-1/4 tsp
Channa dal-1/4 tsp
Salt as needed
Step by Step Photo Recipe:
1.Make a Paste with Coconut Chunks, Ginger and Garlic Cloves and keep aside.

2.Add oil in a kadai and add Manathakali vathal.
3.Saute till it turns into black colour or till aroma comes and keep aside.

4.In the same pan add Mustard Seeds,Urad dal,Chana dal and asafoetida.
5.After it Splutters add Shallots and Tomatoes.
6.Add in Coriander Leaves and Curry Leaves and saute till it becomes Mashy.

7.Add in Tamarind Paste.

8.Further add Turmeric Powder,Chili Powder and Coriander Powder.

9.After 7 Mins add Coconut Paste.
10.Now add 2 Cups Water and Boil till gravy becomes thick.
11.Finally add Manathakkali Vathal and boil for 5 Mins.
12.Now Gravy is ready to serve.
Serve with Hot Rice or idly.
Notes:
- Oil Must be used More For better taste in this dish.
- Gravy taste More on next day it Prepared.
- Use vadagam for better taste.
