Kodo Millet/Varagu Rice-1 Cup
Toor dal-1/2 Cup
Onion-1 medium sized finely chopped
Tomato-1 large sized finely chopped
Beans,Carrot,drumstick-1/2 Cup chopped
Brinjal-2 Chopped
Tamarind-1 gooseberry sized soaked
Sambar Powder-1 tbsp
Chili Powder-1 tsp
Turmeric Powder-1 tsp
Curry leaves-1 sprig
Coriander leaves-2 tbsp chopped finely
Oil-1 tbsp
Ghee-2 tbsp

If you are prepareing fresh Sambar Powder pls follow the Steps below
Coriander Seeds-2 tbsp
Toor dal-1 tsp
Chana dal-1 tsp
Methi seeds-1/4 tsp
Red Chilies-3 no
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
Pepper corns-1/4 tsp
Dry roast all the ingredients in medium flame till aroma arises.
add into the blender and blend smoothly.
Now the freshly prepared sambar Powder is ready to use.
Step by Step Photo Recipes
1.Add Koda Millet/Varagu rice in a bowl.

2.Add Toor dal.

3.Clean and soak in water for 30 mins.

4.Add the soaked rice and dal in a pressure cooker.

5.Add 1tsp Turmeric Powder.

6.Add 6 to 7 Cups water.

7.Pressure cook for 5 whistles.
8.soak tamarind in water.


9.Heat Oil in kadai.

10.add Onion.

11.Add Tomato.

12.Now add Curry leaves.

13.Cook till it becomes soft.
14.Now add Carrot,beans and drumstick.

15.Further add Sambar Powder and Chili Powder.

16.Add Salt.

17.Cook for 2 mins and add 2 cups water.

18.Once the vegetables are half cooked add brinjal.

19.Add Tamarind water and Cook till all the vegetables gets cooked.

20.Once the pressure gets released open the cooker lid and mix.

21.Once the vegetables are cooked,transfer the cooked rice to the kadai.
22.Add Coriander leaves.

23.Mix everything and Check for the Salt.

24.Finally add ghee and mix.

25.Serve hot.

Notes
- Adjust Chili Powder For your preference.
- You can also add Potatoes,Raddish.
- If the rice becomes thick add some hot water and mix.
- Kodo Millet can be replaced with Barnyard Rice(kuthiraivali),Foxtail Millet(Thinnai),Little millet(Saamai).

- Add Koda Millet/Varagu rice in a bowl.
