Peas Pulao Recipe/Matar Pulao/Pattani sadham

Peas pulao, which is prepared by using Peas as a main ingredient Rice and with some whole spices which includes Cinnamon stick,Cardamom pods,Cloves,Star anise and bay leaf.Green Chilies are added to enhance spicy flavour.

Peas are rich in protein content.It also has sufficient amount of magnesium,potassium and calcium.With peas we can make salads,Puloa,chat items and Poriyal.

In this post i have shared the step by step instruction to make peas pulao by using pressure cooker.Basically this is a one pot meal which can be prepared within 30 mins.You can also prepare this pulao recipe by using kadai.Firstly add Oil and Ghee to kadai.Then add whole spices and saute.Now add Onion,green chilies and Mint leaves and cook till it becomes soft.Further add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes off.Finally add peas and salt and cook till it becomes soft.lastly add the cooked rice and a spoon of ghee for aroma and mix.Serve hot with dal or Panneer Butter masala or with spicy Chicken curry.

Ingredients

Green Peas-1 1/2 Cup(Overnight Soaked or fresh Peas)

Basmati Rice-1 1/4 Cup

Onion-1 Medium Sized Sliced

Green Chilies-5

Mint Leaves-1/2 Cup

Ginger Garlic Paste-1/2 tsp

Cinnamon Stick-1

Cardamom Pods-3

Star anise-1

Cloves-3

Bay Leaf-1

Oil-2 tbsp

Ghee-2 tbsp

PrePreparation

Soak Peas in Water overnight.

Wash and Soak the Basmati rice for 15 mins(maximum of 30 mins can be soaked)

Step by Step Photo Recipe

1.Heat a Pressure Cooker and add Oil and Ghee.

2.Add the whole Spices and saute for 1 min.

3.Add Onion and Green Chilies.(i forget to add at this stage,pls do add)

4.Add Salt.

5.Saute till it becomes soft.

6.Add Ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes off.

7.Add Mint leaves and cook for a minute.

8.Now add peas and cook in low flame for 5 mins.

9.Further add 2 1/2 cups water.

10.Allow it to boil.

11.Once water starts to boil add Soaked Basmati Rice.

12.Mix and check for the salt.

13.Cover and cook for 1 whistle in medium flame.

14.Once ready add a tbsp of Ghee and give a mix.

15.Serve hot with dal,Chicken Curry or with Paneer Butter masala.

Notes

1.Increase the green chilies for extra spice.

2.Add 1 tsp of cumin seeds for extra flavour.

3.If you are a spice lover add some extra whole spices.
