Sev Recipe/Omapodi Recipe

Kara Sev or Ompodi Reicpe is a crispy indian snack made with finely powdered besan.Om Podi is used as a topping in Chaat Recipe or can be eaten alone.It is also mixed with mixture recipes.Om podi can be taken as a sidedish for Sambar rice,Rasam Rice and Curd Rice.you can also enjoy this ompodi with hot chai or coffee.

Ompodi is prepared with gram flour.Sometime Rice flour also added to this recipe to make it more crispy.Red chilli powder,salt is added.The main hero of the recipe is omam(ajwain).Ajwain is blended with water and flitered.Then the filtered mixture is mixed with gram flour.Make sure the dough is soft.Sev can be stored in airtight container for 1 to 2 weeks.

Ingredients

Gram flour/Besan-1 Cup

Rice Flour-1 tbsp

Chili Powder-1/2 tsp

Turmeric Powder-1/4 tsp

Omam-1 tbsp

Salt-1/2 tsp

Oil for deep frying

Curry Leaves-1 Sprig

Step by Step Photo Recipes

1.Add Gram flour in a large mixing bowl.

2.Add Rice flour.

3.Then add Chili Powder.

4.Further add Turmeric Powder.

5.Finally add Salt.

6.Mix everything.

7.Add Ajwain/omam in a blender.

8.Add 1/2 Cup water and blend.

9.Filter it.

10.Add 1 tbsp hot oil.

11.Add the omam water to the gram flour and mix.

12.Make sure the dough is loose.

13.Grease the mould(Chakkli Maker/Murukku maker) with oil.

14.Heat Oil in a kadai.

15.Make sure the oil is hot.(check by dropping a ball of dough).

16.Use the Small hole plate.

17.Add small portion of dough and cover the lid.

18.If you are experienced cook,then straightly press the dough in a hot oil.

19.If you are beginner press the dough in a laddle and drop in hot oil.

20.Cook in medium flame.

21.Once it turns golden brown remove it from oil.

22.Add Curry leaves in hot and roast for 30 secs.

23.Add to the ompodi and mix.

24.Cool completely and store in airtight container.
